The Chapman Brothers will host this year’s ATP: Nightmare Before Christmas
if you’re an artist or photographer who likes the idea of going to ATP: The Nightmare Before Christmason a golden ticket, this is the competition for you. This year, the event being held in Prestatyn, North Wales from November 27-29, is being curated by art’s enfant terribles Jake and Dinos Chapman and boasts a lineup including Holly Herndon, Micachu and The Shapes and Thee Oh Sees.
In conjunction with photo editing app Enlight, All Tomorrow’s Parties is hosting a competiton called Cover Versions. All you need to do is pick one album cover from any of the artsts playing the festival and create an immersive image, as if the picture is coming out of the frame. Tag the photo with #GetMeToATP on Instagram and the photo with the most like after shortlisting on October 5 will take home some great prizes.
There are three categories for entry – General, Most Creative Art Direction and Best Use Of Photography. The winner of the General Prize will receive six tickets plus accommodation to Nightmare Before Christmas, six tickets to Stewart Lee’s plus accommodation, free entry to ATP Iceland and a Rough Trade goodie bag.
The winner of the Most Creative Art Direction prize will win six tickets plus accommodation to Nightmare Before Christmas, Ryobi Drill set, £200 worth of Rhinocar hire and a free studio day at the ATP venue. Your entry (that must be in by midnight October 4) has been accepted when you receive a comment from ATP acknowledging the submission. If you do not receive a comment then please email email@example.com with your username to point out your entry. On Monday October 5 ATP’s Instagram account will regram the top nine shortlisted entries and the final winners will be put to a vote; the 3 regrams with the most likes will take home the prizes.
They’re all pretty good prizes, right? Even if you don’t win, all entrants will be added to the ATP database that looks to connect working artists and musicians with a view to collaboration. Co-curator Jake Chapman says, “We are so honoured to have been asked to curate ATP again this November in Prestatyn. Ten years ago we curated the first Nightmare Before Xmas and lost so many brain cells that it’s taken a decade to replace them. It is extremely special for us be involved again.”
